About the owner, designer & illustrator
My passion for creating beautiful things has been part of me since a very young age. It all started with pencil and paper and my love for drawing. I was always to be found in the study or on the floor surrounded by a haphazard spread of paper, pens, crayons and paint. It has always been a natural, deeply rooted part of who I am.
I believe in stories and magic. I believe in following one’s dreams, finding adventure and communing with Mother Nature. Mostly I believe in the power of beautiful things.
If a single visual can instantly make you feel something and move you, isn’t that something really powerful? And just imagine what we could do with that!
With an honours degree in Information Design and 13 years’ industry experience, I started Paper Horse as a space to do what I really love: to create beautiful things that have meaning, and to help people and businesses embody their true brand personalities. I have good intuition and understanding of the essence of a brand, and all the parts that make up the identity as a whole. By creating a brand that can speak your truth, I aim to help your business put its best foot forward, function optimally and ultimately be successful.
I have worked on a range of brands including Momentum, DStv, Sanlam, Five Roses, Appletiser, Allan Gray, South African Airways, Standard Bank, Peter Stuyvesant, MWEB, Jameson, Pick n Pay, Stellenbosch University, Africa Fashion International, Castle Lager, Gavin Rajah, @Home, Asoka Bar and Restaurant, Old Mutual, Red Heart Rum, Wellness Warehouse, Revlon, Cell C and the One & Only.
What we do
Paper Horse embodies the wild and magical imagination of a child, where anything is possible. We specialise in branding, illustration and packaging design. We offer a wide range of styles tailored to your brand’s unique needs.
We believe in capturing the essence of a brand through a beautiful, well-considered and crafted corporate identity that is relevant to your target market. We feel that a brand is made up of many integral parts that together make up the brand personality. Corporate identity development includes more than just creating a quality logo. It includes developing fonts, colours, graphic devices, patterns, photography style, iconography and illustrations. All these elements come together in a unified look across various applications such as business cards, email signatures, letterheads, social media and packaging.
We love creating beautiful things. We pride ourselves on our flexibility in illustration style and medium and we aren’t afraid to get our hands dirty. Illustrations may be created by hand with pencil, pen and ink, charcoal, water colour or acrylic paint. Alternatively, illustrations can be created on the computer – vector line drawings or solid vector fills, or a combination of hand and computer illustrations. The sky is the limit, let’s play!
